Ann Nesby (born July 24, 1955) is an American R & B singer and actress. She is a former Sounds of Blackness frontman, Ann Nesby recorded alone in 1996 with an album for Perspective, with the help of super-producers Jam & Lewis, the R & B LP-oriented hit a hit with "I'm Here for You." Nesby contributed to several soundtracks (Batman, Mo 'Money, Demolition Man) and tribute albums (for Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye and John Lennon) A songwriter with credits including hits sung by Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight; In addition, she co-starred in the 2003 musical romance The Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé Knowles. Nesby has had several appearances in the hit series of American Idol. In 2000, she did a duet with Al Green on "Put It On Paper". She also won two Grammy Awards: one as part of Sounds of Blackness for the 1991 album Evolution of Gospel, plus another for Handel's Messiah version titled A Soulful Celebration. nominated four times since her departure from the Sounds of Blackness, most recently for her 2007 album This Is Love; In addition, the single "I Apologize" was nominated for a Grammy Award at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
