Antwaun Stanley was born in Flint, Michigan, Stanley began singing at age 3 and participated in talent competitions, including the Queen Latifah Show and Showtime at Apollo.
He signed with Bajada Records, an independent record label, and studied at the University of Michigan. In college, he released an album entitled I Can Do Anything. The album reached number 22 on the chart of US evangelical albums.
The third track of the album, "Teach Me", reached number 29 in the US Gospel Songs chart. In 2008 he was nominated for the Stellar Awards in the Artist of the Year category.
In college he performed with the funk band Groove Spoon and a group a cappella Dicks and Janes. Stanley performs with Vulfpeck as a featured vocalist. He performs with Ann Street Soul and Video 7, a genre-like musical collective. In 2015, it opened for hip-hop artist Common
