Stacie Orrico was born March 3, 1986 in Seattle, WA, and is one of five children of Christian missionaries. Orrico started singing when his family moved to Denver, CO. She first gained recognition in 1998 at the age of 12. Her debut album in 2000, Genuine, it is a combination of Christian pop with an urban extension and has been compared stylistically both Christina Aguilera and Lauryn Hill. Three songs from her debut album, including the ballad Michael W. Smith-produced "Dear Friend" and the first single album "Do not Look at Me," were written or co-written by Orrico. The following year, the young singer has issued an EP of six songs, Christmas Wish, and soon after was supporting Destiny's Child in their US tour (through which she met Mathew Knowles, who offered him a contract with Virgin Records in 2002) . Was his next album, a self-titled version 2003 brought Orrico most fame, earning her a Grammy nomination, a place in the TRL, and a world tour. As a teenager, Orrico decided that the constant pressure and fast pace of the music industry was too much for her, so she took a break from everything and moved back with his family in Seattle, get a job in a restaurant. She returned to the scene in early 2007, however, with beautiful awakening, an album in which she co-wrote many of the songs.
