Zie'l - (Pronounced Zy-El) - 2014

The soulful all-female gospel group Zie'l was formed in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1998 while members were still in their early to mid-teens. Noted for their striking multi-part harmonies and impressive range, Christina Bell, her sister Crystal Bell, Aphten Jones, Keyondra Lockett, and Undrea Northcutt signed with Light Records for their 2006 debut, Genesis, which included a cover of the Clark Sisters' "Is My Living in Vain." After a hiatus with little word of their status, they returned in mid-2013 with a funky stand-alone single, "Redeemed," now a trio without Northcutt or Jones. A single written by Lockett and produced by Drathoven (Yolanda Adams, Tyrese), "State of Emergency," appeared in the spring of 2014 on Dream Records, and the album Zie'l (Pronounced Zy-El) arrived that fall. A mix of contemporary gospel and contemporary R&B, it featured Louisiana hip-hop artist A1 Bold on the highly processed electro-R&B track, "Determined." "State of Emergency" went on to hit the Top 20 of Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart in 2015.

Travis Greene - Crossover Live From Music City - 2017

Contemporary Christian and gospel artist Travis Greene -- a rawly expressive singer and songwriter who incorporates several genres into his sound -- was first driven to express himself through music as a youngster, following the death of his father. He had a brush with his own mortality as a child and was pronounced dead after a fall from the fourth floor of a building in Germany. In addition to developing as a musician, Greene worked as a youth pastor and worship director. His debut, The More, was released in 2007 on his own Greenelight label. Greater strides were made with the 2010 album Stretching Out, released on Pendulum. Two singles from it, "Prove My Love" and "Still Here," hit Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart. "Intentional" was released in 2015 as the lead single to Greene's third album, The Hill, his first for RCA Inspiration. Well recieved, it peaked at number one on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart and garnered Greene seven awards at the 2017 Stellar Gospel Music Awards. On the heels of those accolades, he returned with his fourth album, Crossover: Live from Music City, featuring the single, "You Waited."

Todd Galberth - Decrease - 2017

Todd Galberth is a gospel singer and worship leader originally from Raeford, North Carolina. He was raised singing in church and had his first experiences as a devotional leader while still in his mid-teens. Also an actor, he appeared in several regional theater productions after high school, and in 2006, he self-released the gospel album Private Chambers, a set of original songs that he wrote for a play of the same name.

Galberth eventually settled in as worship pastor at Redemption, a church in Greenville, South Carolina. It was there that he recorded "Lord You Are Good," a part-spoken testimony that hit the Billboard gospel songs chart and became a Gospel Digital Song Sales number one in the fall of 2016.

Todd Dulaney - Your Great Name - 2018

Todd Dulaney is a gospel/worship artist noted for his smooth classic soul delivery and contemporary arranging and songwriting styles. Born and raised in Maywood, Illinois, and singing from a young age, he spent much of his youth aspiring to a career in baseball, eventually playing for Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois. From college, he was drafted by MLB's New York Mets in 2002 and spent five (non-consecutive) years playing professional minor-league baseball. During that span, he continued to devote energies to ministry and singing. He ultimately accepted an invitation to tour with Grammy-winning gospel artist Smokie Norful as a backup singer, and built a performance résumé working with other artists including but not limited to Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, and Michelle Williams. In 2011, he issued his solo debut, Pulling Me Through, which appeared on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart in 2013 after receiving a label release with Gold Street Gospel Entertainment.

The Wardlaw Brothers - Stand There - 2018

Wardlaw Brothers create a sound that mixes smooth soul and vocal jazz with classic gospel, filled with the power of the Lord's message. After founding their own label, TWB Records, in 2007, they released a string of well-received albums including the 2013 standout God's Been There, which included hits like "Thank You," "Right Now Lord," and the title track. The group remained popular throughout the decade, returning in 2018 with Stand There, which included collaborations with Fred Hammond and Dorinda Clark-Cole.

Born and raised in Lyons, Georgia, the Wardlaw Brothers are the sons of Rev. Carl Wardlaw, Jr., who spent more than 15 years as the pastor at Vidalia, Georgia's First African Baptist Church. While the pastor himself was no singer, he was a fan of classic gospel groups such as the Swan Silvertones and the Dixie Hummingbirds, and he and his wife taught their children the valuable role of music in worship. During a period when Rev. Wardlaw was the pastor at a church in the state of Washington, the Wardlaw Brothers became involved in the church's music ministry, and the group's sound, inspired by Boyz II Men and the jazz-influenced gospel vocal group Take 6, began to take shape, with four of the brothers -- Carl Anthony "Tony" Wardlaw, Martin Luther "Lute" Wardlaw, Carl "Carlo" Wardlaw III, and Rodney Allen "Baby Boy" Wardlaw -- trading off on lead vocals and harmonies, with Cornelius "Jamie" Wardlaw providing supportive bass vocals.

Anthony Charles Williams II (born May 16, 1975 in San Diego, California), better known by his stage name Tonéx is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, dancer, producer, preacher. Ruth La'Ontra is a modern gospel singer who debuted in 2013 with the album So Good. Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on July 22, 1992, Ruth La Ontra Jones was the daughter of Bishop Avetra Jones, who practiced at Come as You Are Evangelistic Center in Aberdeen, North Carolina. When she decided to pursue a musical career, she dropped her last name and funded the release of an EP. It created enough of a stir to attract Tyscot Records, who signed the fledgling singer. Psalmist Raine - To Abba - 2017

Gospel artist Psalmist Raine has been using her gift as a vocalist since childhood, first appearing at the age of six on Chicago's Isabelle Joseph Johnson weekly Sunday morning radio show, then a couple of years later on Gatling's Radio program. A lifelong Chicagoan, Raine continued singing in church and community choirs throughout her school days and during her time at Louisiana's Grambling State University. As she became more involved with the gospel music industry she worked with a variety of singers and teachers like LeCresia Campbell, Lonnie Hunter, and Cynthia Nunn, and toured and performed as a member of the Emmett Till Players. She also began developing as a solo performer and songwriter, and in 2013 released her debut album, Believe Again: The Live Experience. Nominated for a Chicago Gospel Music Award, the album put her on the map and set up her next release, 2016's dynamic ReFresh Worship Live from her own ReFresh Worship Institute. A unique worship experience, ReFresh Worship Live was recorded at Chicagoland Christian Center Embassy and, aside from the opening song, was almost entirely improvised. David Mann & Tamela Mann - Us Against the World - 2018

Contemporary gospel singer Tamela Mann, known for her strong and powerful soprano singing voice, was born on June 9, 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas, the youngest of 14 children. Mann's childhood was centered by the presence of the Church of God in Christ (where her mother often served as psalmist). She was singing in the church's adult choir by the time she was 12, often as a soloist, and continued singing in choirs throughout high school. Her professional singing career began in the '90s, when she joined Kirk Franklin & the Family's gospel organization, eventually spotlighted on several tracks. The experience led to an acting career, as well as successful solo recordings acknowledged through numerous Dove, Stellar, and Grammy award nominations.

Gotta Keep Movin' After she left Franklin's organization, Mann's acting career began with a role in David E. Talbert's He Say…She Say…But What Does God Say?, a gospel musical. Mann moved on to play the character Cora Simmons in several Tyler Perry stage, film, and television projects, including I Can Do Bad All by Myself, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and Meet the Browns, the last of which developed into a television series that featured her and husband David Mann. Busy as she was, Mann established a solo career with Gotta Keep Movin' (2005) and the concert CD/DVD The Live Experience (2007), then updated her faith-based gospel sound with contemporary R&B touches on The Master Plan (2009). Best Days (2012), her most popular release, debuted at number one on the Billboard Gospel chart and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200. After the conclusion of the second season of her comedic series Mann and Wife, Mann released her fourth solo album, One Way, another gospel-chart topper.

Phil Travel - Worship Offering - 2017

Phil Tarver is a contemporary gospel musician and pastor based in Chicago. After spending several years singing for Michael Houston & Ministre, and recording with groups such as Shekinah Glory Ministry and Walt Whitman & the Soul Children of Chicago, he made his solo debut with Draw Nearer on Kingdom Records in 2007. The live worship LP reached number 14 on Billboard's Gospel Albums chart and produced the Top 20 gospel hit "Better Than That." He followed it a year later with the studio LP Be Pleased on the same label. Tarver climbed to number four on the Hot Gospel Albums chart with 2010's Place of Worship, which was released on audio and video formats. "God Is Able" returned him to the gospel songs Top 20. His fourth full-length, Sweet Spirit, followed in 2012. Continuing to sing in conjunction with pastoring, he was with Illinois' United Faith Center Ministries International when he performed in Liberia in 2017.

Koryn Hawthorne - Unstoppable - 2018

A singer blessed with a soulful, highly resonant timbre, Koryn Hawthorne is best known as a contestant on season eight of NBC's The Voice. A native of Abbeville, Louisiana, Hawthorne is the daughter of a minister and was first introduced to music while singing in church. During high school, Hawthorne sang locally at festivals, nursing homes, and charity events. In 2015, though only 16 years old, she was accepted onto the NBC reality vocal competition The Voice with her rendition of Emeli Sandé's "My Kind of Love." Initially picked as a member of judge Christina Aguilera's team, Hawthorne was eventually "stolen" by judge Pharrell Williams. During her time on the show, Hawthorne received mentoring from guest Gwen Stefani and made it past the Top Ten with her rendition of Ed Sheeran's "Make It Rain," which debuted at number three on the iTunes songs chart the week of her performance. In 2016, Hawthorne signed a management deal with Maximum Artist Group and recorded the theme song for the Bounce TV series Saints & Sinners. She released an eponymous debut EP the following year. In 2018, she returned with her full-length debut album, Unstoppable, which featured the title-track single, as well as the single "Down Goes Rome."

Jonathan Mcreynolds - Make Room - 2018

Contemporary gospel artist Jonathan McReynolds, a native of Chicago, Illinois' South Side, learned to play drums and keyboards prior to taking up singing in high school. He was briefly a member of the group Mind Over Matter, which released an EP before his solo move. McReynolds recorded a short set of songs and distributed it to family members with no intention of an official release, but it reached John Hannah, a local pastor and DJ who aired some of the material on Chicago's WGRB. The Very Unofficial EP was eventually released to the public and showcased McReynolds' intimate fusion of modern R&B, jazz, and contemporary singer/songwriter rock.

Life Music In May 2012, his single "I Love You" reached Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart. His proper debut album, Life Music, followed that September on Light Records and hit the top half of the Billboard 200. So did the follow-up, Life Music: Stage Two, which topped the gospel chart after its release in 2015. It produced two Top Ten gospel songs in "Pressure" and "Gotta Have You." He landed in the Top Three of the Gospel Albums chart for the third time in a row with Sessions EP in the summer of 2016. Released in early 2018, McReynolds' third full-length, Make Room, was recorded live and featured guest performances from Tonya Baker, Dee-1, and others.

Le'Andria Johnson - Bigger Than Me - 2017

Gospel and praise & worship singer Le'Andria Johnson's journey to a recording career almost ran like the plot for a made-for-TV movie of the week as she overcame obstacles, hardships, and personal disasters to get there. Born on January 23, 1983, Johnson was the twice-divorced single mother of three children when she fell on hard times, losing her home to foreclosure the day before a friend convinced her to drive to New Orleans in a borrowed car to audition for the cable TV show Sunday Best. The daughter of a preacher, Johnson had sung in front of her father's congregations since she was two years old, but she had hardly considered a professional career as a gospel singer. She arrived at the TV audition with little time to spare, and wearing flip flops and the clothes she drove there in, she was amazed to be selected as a contestant. Johnson ended up being declared the winner at the end of the show's third season in 2010, a placing that not only came with the gift of a new car and a cash prize, but also, in time, a recording deal through the show's newly formed Sunday Best imprint under the Music World Gospel label umbrella. A debut seven-song EP, The Awakening of Le'Andria Johnson, was released in 2011, followed by a second seven-song EP, The Evolution of Le'Andria Johnson, in 2012. The two EPs were then combined in 2012 to make a full album, titled The Awakening of Le'Andria Johnson Deluxe. A second full-length, the live The Experience, also appeared in 2012. During 2015, she appeared on the Oxygen reality TV series Preachers of Atlanta, a spin-off of their hit show Preachers of L.A. She returned with her second album, Bigger Than Me, two years later.

Keyondra Lockett - Bring Me To - 2015

Singer and songwriter Keyondra Lockett was a founding member of gospel group Zie'l before she began releasing her own urban contemporary-styled inspirational music as a solo artist in the early 2010s. After issuing a couple of mixtapes, her bright, soulful vocal tone took center stage on her first official solo release, the Bring Me To EP, in 2015. She has also written songs for artists such as Crystal Aiken, Kierra Sheard, and Virtue.

Fearless In 2015, Lockett returned with Soul Couture II as well as the EP Bring Me To, her official solo debut. It was released via her label, Bella Dawn Music Group. "Make Me Better," a song she co-wrote for Kierra Sheard, appeared on Sheard's LED EP, also in 2015. The following year, Lockett became the first gospel artist to license her own doll after joining forces with Kenya & Friends. With production by Jor'dan Armstrong, Lockett did her own version of "Make Me Better" retitled "You Make Me Better" in mid-2017, and a song she penned for Virtue appeared on their Fearless LP in February of 2018. That same month, the Lockett single "Try" saw release; it featured production by Tedy P Williams.
